I haven’t heard from you in years, but I know you must be somewhere out there, laughing, crying, coping with whatever life has been throwing at you these days. Lately I’ve been wondering — what kind of person did you grow into? I can’t imagine this world turning you hard, so I’m assuming you are just as kind and good-natured as you were before. Did you find what you were looking for when we were younger? Adventure, travels, people who held your held along the way? I hope you did.
Sometimes the thought of just calling you crosses my mind, but I can never seem to pick up the phone and dial your number. What if things have changed? What if we no longer work together like we did before? We’re older now, have been through so much, and I don’t want the memories we made to be tainted. I guess I’ll just keep it that way: remembering what it was like when we were younger with a smile on my face, knowing the thought of you will always be a place I can come back to in order to feel safe.
